Studies have shown that, besides providing an overall feeling of well-being, acupuncture may help treat or prevent many side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. Typically painless, acupuncture involves inserting very fine sterile needles at specific points in the body. This procedure “frees up” the Chi energy that flows through each of us to restore normal function. Side effects are minimal, and patients often report feelings of deep relaxation during treatment.

Chemotherapy and radiation can cause side effects such as hair loss (including eyebrows), skin conditions such as rashes, sensitivity to everyday products, dark under eye circles, and more. The Reflections program addresses these issues while providing you a space to just relax.

New guests are offered a foot soak while our oncology-trained aesthetician conducts an assessment and designs a treatment plan for you. The treatment includes a facial with a hand and foot massage. Our highly-trained aestheticians have years of experience in helping clients manage the effects of cancer treatment and are ready to address your skin care concerns. After your facial, they can apply cosmetics and show you how to look more like yourself.

As part of the survivorship program, you may come in as often as once a month and up to a year after being discharged. The Celilo Fund pays for the program so there is no cost to you for these services.

With serene views and access to our healing garden, our comfortably furnished meditation room is a peaceful place for you and your family to contemplate, sit and breathe, meditate or pray. Guided meditation and journaling are available Tuesdays from 12 to 1, followed by Reiki.

Spiritual care plays a vital role in enhancing the healing potential of many patients. Spiritual Care staff members and volunteers offer a caring presence as they listen to you and your family members’ concerns, fears, or questions regarding treatment or another aspect of their life.

Located outside, directly in front of Celilo, the labyrinth is a tool for walking, reflection, relaxation, meditation, and prayer. As you stroll quietly along the beautiful stone path, you can find strength, peace, and awareness to cope with cancer and its effects. To arrange a visit with a Spiritual Care staff member, call 541-506-6999.
